Review
John Green’s novel, The Fault in Our Stars
provides you with a sense of hope for the characters. This novel pulls you in
from the begging only leaving to wander what happens next. I grew attached to
the characters, and fell in love with their relationship. This book created a
feeling of actually being with the characters. It is disheartening, yet humorous
at the same time.
I knew that one of the characters would end up dying, but I never really predicted it would be Hazel. Although I do not liked how Augustus Waters dies, I do like how Green threw a curve ball, not making the ending too predictable. I also liked how the characters did not their illnesses determine who they were. They did not let cancer take over their lives, and they stayed strong through it all. Hazel knew that she would die sometime soon, and did not try to deny it. I’m happy the two characters made humor of their sickness instead of trying to elude the fact that they were sick.
Altogether, I simply loved this book. I didn’t want it to end and was sad when it did. One critique I have for this book was how much longer did Hazel live? In my opinion, the ending could have had more detail and could have been less abrupt. I would consider this book a happy tragedy and would strongly consider people to read it.
